This month, LOKO is hosting a new edition of ‘Think Abroad!’ Over the course of 10 days, a variety of events will be held in coordination with student associations to offer students the chance to “discover a whole new world.” Beginning on the 18th of March, the Think Abroad events will continue until the 28th of March. Many events will be hosted in familiar and central locations like Alma 2, Pangaea, and the Max Weber Aula, though other locations are still yet to be announced. Keep reading for more details, and stay posted as the rest is revealed with time.
LOKO will begin Think Abroad on Monday, the 18th of March with a free concert. The opening event will feature a short introduction by the vice rector of International Policy followed by three bands that shall perform throughout the evening. Hosted in Alma 2, food will be available later than usual, with the facilities extending their hours to accommodate for the event. There will be a unique menu featuring Hawaiian and Korean options, as well as Stella!
Pangaea, the international student cafe will be hosting a number of events throughout the week. There is an ‘Indonesia Day’ on the 19th, Cameroonian food and film on the 21st, an Iranian movie night on the 23rd, and more. The closing event will also be taking place at Pangaea. On the 28th there will be games and a food market to wrap up the 10 days of activities. So don’t be surprised, denizens of Pangaea, if there are new sights, sounds, and smells in your familiar tea and coffee spot.
The programme for Think Abroad! is full thanks to cooperation with various student associations which are helping to bring more than 16 different events to life. There is quite a lot to choose from, and too much to list here. Thus we will encourage the curious to take a further look and to mark their calendars. Whether you want cultural enrichment in the form of food, some friendly competition with a quiz organized by ESN, or are looking to dance to new tunes beyond the Oudemarkt, Think Abroad! is taking advantage of the international population in Leuven by engaging the cultural products of numerous student groups, with over a dozen events showcasing them.
